
Robert Wahlers

Robert E. Wahlers has more than 33 years as a professional fundraiser and consultant serving as a senior leader for AdventHealth, Hackensack Meridian Health, Virtua Foundation, the American Cancer Society and the Boy Scouts of America. Robert has raised more than $500 million over his career, leading or serving on the team for more than 100 capital campaigns.
Robert is a sought-after speaker having presented at several international, national and regional conferences for Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, Association for Fundraising Professionals, and National Association of Charitable Gift Planners. Robert is also an educator and author. Since 2010, Robert has served as an Adjunct Professor on the faculty at Columbia University for their Master of Science Program in Nonprofit Management where he teaches the Major & Leadership Giving, Fundraising Fundamentals, Annual Giving and Capital Campaigns courses. He also serves on the faculty of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy’s Madison Institute at the University of Wisconsin. Robert has been a guest lecturer at New York University, Rice University, Kean University and Stockton University. Robert co-authored his first book entitled The Philanthropic Planning Companion: The Fundraiser’s and Professional Advisor’s Guide to Charitable Gift Planning with Brian Sagrestano, JD, CFRE that was published by John Wiley & Sons. It was the winner of the 2013 AFP Skystone Partners Research Award as the best new fundraising book for that year. They have also written two additional books Getting Started in Charitable Gift Planning and Getting Started in Charitable Gift Planning – The Resource Book published by Charity Channel.
Robert is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and holds a Master of Science degree in Human Development & Leadership with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from Murray State University and a BA Degree in Psychology from Muhlenberg College.
