CASE STUDY
Vellore Christian Medical College Foundation
Christian Medical College (CMC) is a small, highly-rated medical college in India that has a great back story and impressive alumni living all over the world. TAG partnered with the Foundation to recruit a President to lead fundraising efforts and elevate philanthropy for the College. Upon meeting John Riehl, TAG knew he would bring the fresh insight and entrepreneurial spirit needed to CMC’s fundraising. Under John’s guidance, fundraising has soared to new levels, raising more than $4M in 2022, a 650% growth from the year prior to John joining the Foundation.
With his unique perspective, John created a number of initiatives that engaged the powerful alumni community, re-engaged the faith community in the U.S., and reached out to descendants of the original founders of CMC, all of which resulted in vastly increased giving and a galvanized donor base. In addition, John was able to raise awareness about CMC to a larger worldwide community, and by connecting with a major donor from India, secured a $40M, multi-year grant that will enable the construction of a new pediatric hospital as part of CMC.
